Attorney For Family of Brendon Glenn Calls It “Extraordinary” That Ex-LAPD Officer Traveled Internationally Despite Murder Warrant

Marina Del Rey, Calif., Feb. 9, 2026 — The attorney representing the family of Brendon Glenn has issued the following statement regarding the news that former LAPD Officer Clifford Proctor reportedly was allowed to stay in his home and travel out of the country despite a warrant being issued for his arrest on suspicion of murder.

“It’s extraordinary that someone with a murder warrant was allowed to live in his home and travel internationally for a year through America’s airports,” said civil rights attorney V. James DeSimone, who represents Glenn’s mother Sheri Camprone and his minor son. “You have to wonder whether a murder suspect who is not a former cop would have been treated the same way.”

“I’ve been in touch with the district attorney’s office and we are confident that the individuals leading the prosecution team will see this case to justice. They say that justice delayed is justice denied, but justice delayed is still justice when it is achieved.

“The family has waited 10 long years for Officer Proctor to be prosecuted in a case where even former LAPD Chief Charlie Beck stated publicly at the time that there was no justification for shooting Brendon Glenn in the back. It’s about time!”

Brendon, 29, was unarmed and died after being shot twice in the back by Proctor on May 5, 2015.

Proctor was responding to reports of a disturbance involving Glenn outside a bar in Venice, California. The officers approached Glenn after observing him in a struggle with a bouncer.

The deadly shooting was later ruled to be unjustified and in violation of LAPD’s use of force policy. Former LAPD Chief Charlie Beck called for Proctor to be criminally charged. Former LA District Attorney Jackie Lacey decided against filing criminal charges, but her replacement, Dist. Atty. George Gascón hired a special prosecutor to reopen the investigation into Brendon’s killing. Proctor left the department in 2017. He was indicted by a grand jury in September, 2024, and arrested at LAX just this past October.
